One of the biggest representations of any fandom is cosplay. That feeling that you love your favorite comic book, anime, video game, or whatever SO much that you just cannot help but to express that love by becoming a character in real life. If you can get paid for that? Well that’s even better, after all, the saying is “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
That was the case with Vampy Bit Me. Real name Linda Le, Vampy Bit Me has been dressing up as classic anime and video game characters since she was the age of 12, and at one point was stated to have been at over 200 American anime conventions from 2008-2013. She has also been featured with Marvel, DC, Bandai, and many other major companies, so she truly has lived the dream. This year Vampy Bit Me will be one of the hosts for the Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup, and we here at Geekset got the chance to sit down with her for a few questions.
Geekset: You’ve been featured on Marvel.com, and worked with major companies like Bandai, DC, and Capcom. What would you say was your favorite character to portray?
Vampy Bit Me: I am always super humbled when I’m asked to cosplay for various companies. I would say for sure when Capcom asked me to officially debut their Flagship Monster Armor Velkhana last year at SDCC for Monster Hunter World Iceborne knowing how big of a fan I was. I also got to hand-select my team at the time so help me finish the costume on a strict deadline. I usually make my own Monster Hunter cosplays myself so that was a lot of fun to work with a lot of other people that I love and respect.
Geekset: Along the same lines, what is a character that you haven’t gotten the chance to portray yet, that you want to at first chance?
Vampy Bit Me: I have been talking for years about making Guts from Berserk. I would say about 12 years now. I want to do it justice and not rush the costume so I’m still waiting for a break so I can make it without working on other projects! Soon! I really hope I can make it a reality!
